The Australian Trusted Trader (ATT) program is a free and voluntary partnership between accredited businesses and the Australian government. The program aims to streamline and facilitate trade, as well as enhance security in supply chains.
"With our major trading partners already employing such a scheme, Australian companies can now realise the productivity gains across the supply chain that their competitors already enjoy," said Willox.
"The Program that has been deployed is a good example of government working with industry to design a regime that is both business friendly and meets the government compliance requirements."
According to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, entities that are able to demonstrate all requirements relating to supply chain security and a history of trade compliance will be formally accredited as Trusted Traders and recognised as low-risk.
"The key business benefits include reduced red tape, a dedicated point of contact within the department, expedited border clearance processing and release of shipment," said Willox.
This will help businesses to forge new global trade links, and will allow for operation with greater certainty.
"Ai Group congratulates the four companies who are participating in the pilot for their willingness to contribute to the program and make it a success," Willox said.
